The Inner Eye

The Nautilus Eye

The ridged black bands spiral like a nautilus shell, widening toward the lower right and tapering at the top into a crown of white-tipped feather strokes. At the centre of the spiral, concentric white and black circles surround a violet, flower-like shape with a red dot at its middle. The movement is double: the shell turns outward while the eye is drawn inward. Is it a shell, an eye, a flower, a galaxy? The painting lets the forms overlap and keeps every reading open. The signature and a small red petal mark sit at the lower right.
